imagical wins 3rd place at nationals!
Yay, I’m really happy with this considering that we were competing with teams that consistently go to and win Nationals. Not only that but we’re in the miniority in that our team is entirely student run - versus other teams that compete as part of advertising courses at their schools. Also, it was the first time that any of us had developed a PSA campaign! We didn’t perform as well as we did at regionals, IMO, but I’m glad it was good enough for the judges.
I’m riding a bus from DC to NY right now. I somewhat accidentally spent the last few days in Georegtown but surprisingly really liked it. Everything worked out because the campus area is actually really fun. Naturally, there were plently of bars but surprisingly there was a huge shopping area as well with great restaurants.
Stephen and I also managed to do some touristy stuff but we somehow didn’t have enough time to do everything we wanted to. We went on a tour of the monuments (Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, etc.). The highlight: standing on the spot at the Lincoln Memorial where MLK stood to give his “I Have a Dream” speech. We also went to a few Smithsonian Museums and the Holocaust Memorial Museum. In preparation, I started reading a book about a Polish couple that helped move and protect Jews. It’s called The Zookeeper’s Wife and is by Diane Ackerman. Great read so far.
